Certified Professional Licensed Midwife, Corina Hossle, is converting a 2,400-square-foot house located five minutes from Chippenham Hospital into Richmond’s first midwife-led birth center.

Observing American Association of Birth Centers standards, the birth facility will assure the highest level of quality and safety with two water birth suites, exam rooms, offices, family waiting rooms and a kitchenette.

The nearby resource center will offer space for yoga or other community classes and a lending library with a fireplace. Hossle is seeking complementary businesses for four private offices to complete the vision.

Hossle intends to create a gathering place for the holistic care and support of women, babies and families. Prenatal care is being offered in clients’ homes until the center is ready, and Embrace is now accepting babies due in mid-April.
