Feeling Fit With Laughter Yoga
Slash Coleman
Laughter Yoga has a new home in Richmond at 213 Roseneath Road, Suite 102, thanks to a collaboration between Nora Vimala Pozzi, owner/director of the Integral Yoga Center of Richmond and Slash Coleman, Certified Laughter Yoga Leader.
Based on the belief that voluntary laughter provides the same physiological and psychological benefits as spontaneous laughter, Coleman guides participants into prolonged voluntary laughter in one to ten minute intervals. Each 60-minute class utilizes yogic breathing, laughter exercises, eye contact and childlike playfulness.
Classes are “pay-what-you-can” and run every Friday (except when they’re on Sunday). No prior yoga experience is necessary. Laughter Yoga was started in Mumbai, India, in 1995 by Dr. Madan Kataria as a way to promote the use of laughter as a form of physical exercise.
