Celebrate Biological Farming
The 20th annual Virginia Biological Farming Conference will take place from January 11 through 13 at the Richmond Omni Hotel. Virginia’s premier organic and sustainable agriculture gathering will feature more than 30 speakers, including Joel Salatin, Leah Penniman and Jeff Poppen. There will be 40 educational workshops and presentations, panel discussions, interesting and knowledgeable trade show exhibitors, locally sourced meals, book signings and a silent auction.
Salatin, of Polyface Farms, is the author of 12 books including, Pastured Poultry Profits, Family Friendly Farming and Salad Bar Beef. Penniman, of Soul Fire Farm, is the author of Farming While Black: Soul Fire Farm’s Practical Guide to Liberation on the Land. Poppen is the author of Barefoot Farmer.
The conference also features the Taste of Virginia Market and Expo, full of samples and sales of a diverse array of local foods and libations and culminates in an evening social with music. The Taste of Virginia event is free.
