Integrative Health Conference for Women: COMES TO RICHMOND

In recognition of International Women’s Day, the inaugural RVA Integrative Health Conference for Women will be held on March 8 at the Tuckahoe Women’s Club. One highlight of the conference will be the announcement of a new medical entity, The New Woman, by conference founder and chief sponsor Dr. Rumki Banerjee. Since women tend to be the caretakers for the family and often neglect their own care, The New Woman will combine the best of traditional medicine with new, holistic treatments to provide an integrated approach to healthcare, addressing the unique physical, environmental and psycho-social needs of its female patients.

The New Woman will give women access to medicines, hormones, vitamins, yoga, meditation, acupuncture, detoxification, massage and dietary consultations to help transform their lives and empower them to choose proactive wellness and sustainable living. Banerjee is dedicated to integrating the highest standard of natural and scientific approaches to women’s wellness in a cost-effective manner. Banerjee says, “This new medical model is good news for women!”

Banerjee has practiced family medicine at her Apex MD ~ Family Practice and Integrative Holistic Medicine medical and wellness center in Richmond’s West End for more than eight years. Banerjee’s concept is to pull together multiple modalities of healers to share their best practices and latest treatments with the aim of combining the best of traditional Western and alternative medicine in a holistic atmosphere.

She will do the same with the RVA Integrative Health Conference for Women. The conference is a unique opportunity to learn about some of the most advanced concepts in the field of alternative and holistic medicine, with presentations on health topics of vital importance to women and their families from local and national medical practitioners, including The Microbiome and Leaky Gut Syndrome, Energy Medicine, Hormone Balancing and Menopause, Chronic Pain, Self- Healing and Non-Medicinal Treatment, Use of CBD Oil, Balance Your Body - Achieving Mindfulness, Compounding Pharmaceuticals and Better, Deeper Sleep.

Speakers include Dr. Banerjee, co-founder of Apex-MD, who will present Balance Your Body - Achieving Mindfulness and Health Related to Aging Women Population, focusing on the non-medical benefits that can be used to improve one’s health and well-being, including mindfulness, tai-chi, low impact exercise and mineral-vitamin-hormonal balance needs for women.

Rx3 Compounding Pharmacy, in Short Pump and Chester, is a major sponsor of the conference. They will present Erik Tosh, a nationally recognized expert on the topic of herbal pharmaceuticals, who will discuss the latest developments in herbal compounding.

Dr. Melaney Caldwell, a local board-certified pediatrician will discuss her work with women and children challenged by ADHD, autism, obesity and Type 2 diabetes, as well as other neurodevelopmental problems.

Ramakrishnan “Ramky” Kavaserry, MSPT, a physical therapist in Glen Allen who provides specialty therapies such as myofascial release, dry needling and exercise training, will explain the benefits of those practices.

Cathy Motley-Fitch, a mother who lost her infant daughter to a series of medical errors, will speak about self-healing and how to receive optimum care in a medical crisis by turning individual health care providers into a team that includes patients and families.

Terri McDowell, a licensed occupational therapist and certified health coach with 29 years of experience in the medical community, will present on digestive wellness (healing leaky gut syndrome).

Teresa Marie Meadows, an integrative health and wellness coach, will discuss ways in which we can improve our physical and mental health through better management of the stress in our complex lives.
