Keep Virginia Beautiful is a statewide nonprofit that began as the Virginia Anti-Litterbug Council in 1953 to address the “menacing litter problem” on our highways.  Our mission is to engage and unite Virginians to improve our natural and scenic environment.  As we celebrate our 70th Anniversary in 2023, we’re aware that there is still so much to be done. 

Every year we host the Great Virginia Greenup, which runs from the first day of spring until the first day of summer – June 21, 2023.  We’ll be cleaning up roadsides, playgrounds, parks, and waterways to continue to tackle the litter problem.  And we invite you to do the same!
